I've got the ACU (older, but they work) and ADU, so what I need to find out is this: So, the problem is: The second drive that died is still reporting as "it's failing", amber light and all, and I want to replace it, BUT I'm not sure the first drive I replaced fully rebuilt itself enough that the array can rebuild again. Came up with a message "f1 to continue with drives disabled, f2 to re-enable drives with data loss" Wondered how good my backups were, said a prayer, and hit f2, and the server came up. Shut down the server, re-seated both drives in the array, and rebooted. At which point the array controller took the entire logical drive offline. But, sometime over the weekend, another drive died. No biggie, shut down the server, pull drive, replace, reboot and wait for the rebuild magic. So here's what I have: A server (HP Proliant M元70 G4) with an array controller (SMART Array 641) that runs 6 drives in a RAID 5 (I know, RAID 10, but that's not the problem).
